UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Strengthens Global Halal Network through Collaboration with China’s Halal International Certification Company

Malang – The Halal Inspection Body (LPH) of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang held a Workshop and Capacity Building program for halal auditors on Friday, August 22, 2025. This initiative serves as a strategic effort to strengthen the capacity and role of LPH within the halal certification ecosystem. Head of UPT P2B UIN Malang, Dr. Suud Fuadi, S.E., M.EI, in his remarks, expressed full support for the development of LPH. He emphasized that LPH UIN Malang should not only play an active role in East Java but also aim to expand its contribution to the international level. In line with this, Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Hj. Ilfi Nur Diana, M.Si., CAHRM., CRMP, conveyed that LPH must be able to position itself as a frontliner and a leading sector in halal certification, both regionally and globally. As the first speaker, Lilik Fatmawati, STP., M.A.P., Reviewer of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) East Java, highlighted the minimum standards required of a halal auditor. She stated that auditors must master halal regulations and product standards, be objective and independent, possess traceability skills, and adopt an educational approach. She further emphasized that materials, processes, and products are the key aspects to be carefully examined during audits. Meanwhile, Kyai Sholihin Hasan, Secretary of the Fatwa Commission of MUI East Java, delivered a session on halal fatwas. He underscored the importance of monitoring critical points in the slaughtering of poultry and ruminants, whether conducted directly or through stunning methods. In addition, he highlighted the need for auditors to strengthen their traceability skills, particularly for animal-based products such as civet coffee (kopi luwak) and edible bird’s nest, which have unique characteristics in terms of halal compliance. Through this workshop, LPH UIN Malang is expected to further enhance the professionalism of halal auditors and contribute actively to safeguarding the integrity of halal certification in Indonesia.
