LPH UIN Malang Establishes Collaboration with LPH LPPOM MUI to Enhance Testing Quality

The Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN Maliki) Malang recently signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Halal Inspection Agency of the Indonesian Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Research Institute (LPPOM) MUI at the Global Halal Center LPPOM MUI in Bogor.
This collaboration focuses on laboratory testing, specifically in the area of halal product certification.
Moh. Taufiq, the Quality Manager of LPH UIN Maliki Malang, emphasized that this inter-institutional collaboration is essential for the development of both organizations. He explained, “Through such collaborations, we expect positive outcomes that will help achieve the targets and goals of the organization.”
Currently, LPH UIN Maliki Malang, under the Business Development Center (P2B), operates an Integrated Halal Laboratory equipped with several halal testing instruments, including the Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID), used for alcohol testing, and Real-time PCR for pig DNA analysis, all aimed at enhancing the guarantee of halal products.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Prilya Dewi Fitriasari, M.Sc., the Manager of LPH UIN Maliki Malang, alongside Quality Manager Moh. Taufiq, M.Si, and Audit Manager Mahrus Ismail, M.Si.
The CEO of LPPOM MUI, Ir. Muti Arintawati, M.Si, warmly welcomed this partnership. She described it as a strategic collaboration, particularly in the realm of halal product assurance.
“This strengthens our efforts to ensure that products circulating in Indonesia are truly free from prohibited ingredients,” she said.
Muti further explained that the scope of cooperation with LPPOM MUI is not limited to halal certification alone. It can also expand to research, student internship activities, and laboratory consultancy services for institutions seeking ISO/IEC 17025 certification.
LPPOM MUI boasts a representative facility, with an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited testing laboratory supported by modern equipment and competent human resources in the field.
“The laboratory instruments we possess include Real-time PCR, GC-MS, GC-FID, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and UHPLC,” added the Head of LPPOM MUI’s Laboratory, Heriyani, S.Si., M.T.Pn.
