Auditors from the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) of the LPH UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang participated in the halal auditor occupational competency certification exam held by the Indonesian Halal Professional Certification Agency (LSPHI). This initiative aims to ensure the competence of the LPH auditors at UIN Maliki Malang. The certification exam, held recently, was attended by six auditors: Anik Maunatin, Hajar Sugihantoro, Ardiyatul Iffah Kelana, Mayu Rahmayanti, Novia Maulina, and Akyunul Jannah. Prilya Dewi, the Manager of LPH UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, stated that the competency test aims to enhance the knowledge, skills, and capacities of the participating auditors. She emphasized the importance of this effort, especially considering the rapid advancement of industrial technology, which has led to increasing complexity in production processes—including the potential use of non-halal ingredients. “Having certified auditors will certainly have a positive impact on the institution,” she said. “It will strengthen public trust in LPH UIN Maliki Malang and demonstrate that we are truly competent as a halal inspection body.” “For that reason, competent halal auditors are essential to ensure the halal status of products,” she added. Quality Supervisor of LPH, Moh. Taufiq, also emphasized the vital role of auditors in the halal certification process. According to him, an auditor must truly be competent and possess the ability to carry out thorough assessments of a product’s halal status. “They must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of product halalness in accordance with Islamic law as well as Government Regulation No. 39 of 2021,” he said.
